Fix IRL Pro "Cannot Connect to Server"

IRL Pro shows "Cannot Connect to Server" even though your FizzyPeak settings are correct? Connection Bonding is usually the culprit. Here's how to fix it in 30 seconds.

Fix IRL Pro "Cannot Connect to Server"

You set up FizzyPeak correctly, copied the SRT link, everything looks fine — but IRL Pro stubbornly shows "CONNECTION NAME: can't connect to server". Not a rare bug. The cause is almost always a feature that's actually supposed to help: Connection Bonding.

What's the conflict?

IRL Pro has its own bonding mechanism that runs through internal servers. When it's active, IRL Pro doesn't route your stream directly to your FizzyPeak ingest — it sends it through the IRL Pro infrastructure first. If that clashes with our SRT configuration, or no compatible relay is available, the connection drops.

The fix (30 seconds)

  1. Open IRL Pro
  2. Tap the gear icon in the top left
  3. Go to Connections
  4. Press and hold your active connection (the one with the checkmark) — don't just tap it
  5. In the menu that pops up: tap Connection Bonding repeatedly until the toggle is gray / off
  6. Go back to the main view and restart the stream

In 95% of cases your stream now goes live.

Better: SRTLA instead of SRT

If you keep fighting connection problems, switch directly to SRTLA in FizzyPeak. It's the protocol built for IRL streaming:

  • Bonding at the packet level
  • Automatic error correction
  • No conflicts with IRL Pro's internal servers

Here's how to switch:

  1. FizzyPeak Dashboard → Ingests → Enable SRTLA
  2. Copy the new SRTLA URL
  3. In IRL Pro: choose Add Connection → SRTLA and paste the URL
  4. Delete the old SRT connection in IRL Pro

When even SRTLA won't work

Check 1: Firewall & NAT — some mobile CGNAT setups block UDP. Test on WiFi: does it connect at home? Then it's your provider.

Check 2: Port 5000 UDP — open Settings → Advanced in IRL Pro and check that port 5000 (the SRTLA default) hasn't been overwritten. Some carrier apps route UDP in weird ways.

Check 3: App version — IRL Pro regularly updates its bonding logic. If you're on an old version, update from the Play Store.

Check 4: Test the SIM card — under Connections in IRL Pro you can turn each SIM on and off individually. Enable just one, test, then the other. That's how you find the troublemaker SIM.

Support case

If all the checks fail, reach out to us in the FizzyPeak Discord with the following info:

  • Screenshot of the IRL Pro connection list
  • Screenshot of your FizzyPeak ingest page
  • Which mobile carriers the SIMs are on
  • Whether WiFi works at home

With these four pieces of info we'll find the issue in under 5 minutes.
