Show Twitch Chat in Larix Broadcaster

With NightDev's Kapchat you can overlay your Twitch chat directly in Larix — no Cloud-OBS, no PC. Here's how to set up the web widget.

Show Twitch Chat in Larix Broadcaster

You stream mobile-only with Larix Broadcaster and want to see your chat right in the camera view? That's what Kapchat by NightDev is for — a web widget that renders your Twitch chat as an overlay. In Larix you can embed the widget as a web overlay and see your messages live on screen.

The same approach works in IRL Pro on Android.

Step 1: Generate the Kapchat link

  1. Open nightdev.com/kapchat{target="_blank"}
  2. Click Get it
  3. Enter your Twitch channel name (without @, just the username part)
  4. Optional: customize the theme

- Fade Time: how long messages stay visible (10 seconds recommended) - Hide Bot Messages: check this if you want to hide bot spam - Theme: Dark, Light or Transparent - Prevent Clipping: do NOT enable — it blocks clip functions

  1. At the very bottom: click Generate
  2. Copy the generated link — it looks like:

Step 2: Configure Larix

  1. Open Larix, tap the gear in the top right
  2. Overlays → Web Widgets
  3. Click New web widget
  4. Name: Chat
  5. URL: paste your Kapchat link
  6. View mode: switch from Preview+Stream to Preview

- Otherwise your viewers also see the transparent browser overlay, which looks bad

  1. Position: choose the area where the chat should appear (usually top right or bottom)
  2. WebView options:

- Width: 600 - Height: 800 - Background: transparent

  1. Save

Step 3: Adjust the size

If the chat looks too small or too big:

  • Long-press the widget in the overlay list
  • Set Scale in percents to 200 to 400
  • Check live in the preview — keep adjusting until it fits

Important: Preview vs. Stream

In Larix, web widgets only show the chat in the preview if you set View mode to Preview. Your viewers on Twitch won't see the chat as an overlay — for that you need to render the chat server-side via an OBS overlay.

If you want chat on-stream

Two options:

  1. Use FizzyPeak Cloud-OBS — in our Cloud-OBS you can add Kapchat as a browser source and the chat is on-stream and visible to all viewers. No PC needed.
  2. Larix with stream output — set View mode to Preview+Stream. Then Larix renders the chat into the outgoing video too. Downside: the widget eats more CPU and can throttle your bitrate.

FizzyPeak recommendation

Our experience: if you're already using our Cloud-OBS, render the chat there. It spares the encoder on your phone and gives you more control over positioning and animations. Then you only use Larix web widgets for yourself in the preview to follow along.

Alternative chat overlays

  • StreamElements Chat Box — more themes than Kapchat, free
  • Chat.live — a newer tool, very modern, plays nicely with FizzyPeak
  • Custom CSS on Kapchat — advanced users can heavily customize Kapchat via CSS parameters

Troubleshooting

Widget shows no chat — check the channel name in the Kapchat URL (no spaces, all lowercase).

Chat stutters in Larix — browser rendering is RAM-hungry. Close other apps before you stream.

Chat is there, but too small — set Scale to 300% and also set the Kapchat "Font Size" setting to large.
