Privacy-Mode — Instant Blackout Without Disconnecting Your Stream
Privacy-Mode
Privacy-Mode is your one-click panic button: the video is hidden instantly, but your stream keeps running. Perfect for the bathroom, police checks, private conversations — anything that shouldn't be on air.
Why not just go offline for a bit?
Because Twitch interprets "offline" as the end of your stream. You lose:
- All your current viewers (they have to tune back in)
- Your position in the browse/discovery ranking
- Raids, sub streaks, stream stats
- For 24/7 channels: continuous status
Privacy-Mode makes the video go black — but the stream itself stays online. Viewers only see a "pause" scene that you've prepared.
How do I enable Privacy?
In the dashboard:
- Open Live → scroll to the Privacy card
- Click the big button "Start Privacy-Mode"
- The button pulses red — viewers now see your Privacy scene
Via chat command (mods/broadcaster only):
!privacy
The bot confirms: 🔒 Privacy-Mode active
Via mobile app (planned Q2): Moblin + IRL Pro get a widget button with a home-screen shortcut.
What do my viewers see?
That depends on which scene you've set up as "Privacy" in Cloud Studio. Recommendations:
- Static image with the text "Be right back"
- Animated logo loop (3–5 seconds, repeating)
- Music + black screen with a timer
- Chat overlay stays visible — viewers can keep chatting
How long can Privacy stay active?
Unlimited. There's no timeout. Some streamers also use Privacy for 20-minute breaks during IRL streams.
But: your stream still counts as "active" for Twitch. That matters for sub streaks and ranking.
Does Privacy end automatically?
No. You have to turn it off manually:
- Click the dashboard button again
- Chat:
!privacyagain — toggles back
Privacy vs. NOALBS — what's the difference?
| Privacy | NOALBS | |
|---|---|---|
| Triggered by | You, manually | Automatically on a poor connection |
| Duration | As long as you want | As long as the signal is weak |
| Use case | "Need to step away" | "Internet drops out" |
| Available from | Creator (€12) | IRL Pro (€19) |
Both can be active at the same time — Privacy has priority.
Who can trigger !privacy via chat?
Only the broadcaster (you) and moderators. Regular viewers get no response. This can't be changed in the chat command settings — it's a security feature.
Is Privacy logged anywhere?
Yes, in your chat_command_log. In the Account tab you can see who triggered !privacy and when. This protects against accidental or malicious activation by mod accounts.
In short
Privacy-Mode is the single most important button for an IRL streamer. One click — video gone. Another click — video back. Your stream stays online the entire time.
Included from Creator (€12/mo).
