Find and Enter Your Twitch Stream Key
Where to find your Twitch stream key, how to enter it safely in FizzyPeak, and what to do when it's been reset.
Find and Enter Your Twitch Stream Key
The stream key is your personal credential for Twitch. Without it, nothing goes live. Here we'll show you where to find it, how to store it safely in FizzyPeak, and what to watch out for so it doesn't suddenly stop working.
Copy your stream key on Twitch
- Open your Twitch Creator Dashboard{target="_blank"}
- Under Settings → Stream you'll find the Primary Stream Key section right at the top
- Click Copy — Twitch doesn't ask for confirmation, so be careful with screenshots
Never share your stream key publicly. Anyone who has it can go live under your name.
Enter it in FizzyPeak
- Open your FizzyPeak dashboard and go to Destinations
- Click Add Twitch
- Paste the stream key and save
FizzyPeak encrypts the key on the server side. After that you'll only see it as asterisks — even we can't see it in plain text.
When your stream key has been reset
Twitch automatically resets your stream key when you:
- Change your Twitch password
- Manually regenerate the key via the Reset button
- Have a security event detected on your account
If your stream suddenly won't start and the error "Invalid Stream Key" shows up, this is the most likely reason.
How to update it
- Go back to the Twitch Dashboard{target="_blank"}
- Copy the new key
- In the FizzyPeak dashboard under Destinations → Twitch → Edit, delete the old key and paste the new one
- Save — done
Additional stream keys for multi-bitrate
Twitch partners and Turbo users can create up to 4 additional "Test Stream Keys" under the primary key. These are useful if you want to test different bitrates without disrupting your main broadcast.
You don't need them for FizzyPeak — we recommend the primary key and prefer to vary the bitrate in our encoder setup instead.
Security: Rotate your key regularly?
We recommend resetting your stream key manually at least once a quarter — especially if:
- You've entered your stream key in multiple tools
- You've switched devices
- Your Twitch account shows suspicious logins
The rotation process takes 30 seconds: generate a new key, the old one becomes invalid immediately, enter the new one in FizzyPeak.
