Sending RTMP into Belabox

Send the image from your DJI, GoPro, or action camera wirelessly via RTMP into your Belabox — so you can use the bonding power for wireless cams too.

Sending RTMP into Belabox

Belabox is the most uncompromising bonding solution for IRL streaming. Normally you feed in HDMI via a capture card — but you can also send wirelessly via RTMP. Perfect for DJI cameras, GoPros, or action cams that don't have a clean HDMI out.

What you need

  • A Belabox (your own or cloud) with up-to-date firmware
  • A Wi-Fi adapter on the Belabox (recommended: TP-Link T2U Nano or T3U Nano)
  • DJI Mimo (for DJI cams), GoPro Quik, or comparable apps
  • Access to the Belabox web interface (belaUI) via the cloud URL or belabox.local

1. Set up Belabox as a Wi-Fi hotspot

Open the Belabox web interface (belaUI) and go to the network section.

  1. Select your Wi-Fi adapter from the list
  2. Click Enable hotspot mode and confirm
  3. Note the IP address that belaUI shows you (e.g. 10.42.0.1)
  4. The network name and password are generated automatically — you can change both
Remember the IP. You'll need it in a moment to tell your camera where to send.

2. Connect your DJI camera to the Belabox hotspot

  1. Open DJI Mimo and connect to your camera
  2. Tap LIVESTREAM in the top left
  3. Choose RTMP and tap Start Livestream Settings
  4. Wait up to 90 seconds until the setup menu is fully loaded
  5. Tap Select Network and choose the Belabox hotspot
  6. Enter the hotspot password

3. Enter the RTMP URL

In the RTMP URL field in DJI Mimo, enter:

rtmp://10.42.0.1:1935/publish/live

Replace 10.42.0.1 with the IP address that Belabox showed you in step 1.

For GoPro the same format applies — in the GoPro Quik app under Live Streaming → Setup → Other.

4. Switch the Belabox encoder to RTMP input

Go back to the belaUI web interface. Under Encoder Settings:

  1. Set the input to RTMP (instead of HDMI)
  2. Choose the framerate your camera sends: 25, 30, 50, or 60 fps
  3. Click Start

After a few seconds the status RTMP ingest – live appears at the top. From that moment, the camera image flows into Belabox and from there via SRTLA to your FizzyPeak ingest.

5. Check in the FizzyPeak dashboard

Open your FizzyPeak dashboard → Stream Health and you should see:

  • An incoming SRTLA stream active
  • Bitrate matching your encoder setting in Belabox
  • RTT under 200 ms (on good mobile coverage)

Tips from practice

Keep the latency budget in mind — RTMP adds about 1–3 seconds of latency between the camera and Belabox. If you do a lot of live interaction, keep that in mind.

5 GHz instead of 2.4 GHz — the TP-Link T3U Nano can do 5 GHz. That gives you more bandwidth and less interference from other devices. Not every camera supports 5 GHz — check beforehand.

Enable auto-restart in the camera — if your Belabox hotspot briefly drops, the camera reconnects on its own.

Camera bitrate > Belabox output — set the camera bitrate at least 50% above your Belabox target. This keeps quality loss from intermediate re-encoding low.

Common errors

RTMP ingest stays offline — check whether you're using the right port (1935) and whether the firewall port is open. In the cloud version of Belabox you may have to open the port manually.

Audio in sync, video stutters — set the framerate in Belabox and the camera to exactly the same value. 30 and 29.97 are not the same.

Camera connects only once — in some DJI firmwares the RTMP link stays locked after a broadcast. Fully powering off the camera once helps.
