Connect the IRL Pro iOS App to FizzyPeak

IRL Pro on iOS as an encoder — go live without external hardware.

IRL Pro iOS Setup

IRL Pro is the beginner-friendly iOS alternative to Moblin. Fewer features, but faster setup. For creators who just want to stream without the complexity of Belabox or Moblin.

Installation

  1. App Store: download "IRL Pro — Live Stream"
  2. First launch -> allow camera/mic permissions
  3. Optional: account sync (you don't need it for FizzyPeak)

Set up the stream URL

Quick method (recommended)

FizzyPeak has a direct integration: Account -> Setup Guide -> Mobile App -> "Open IRL Pro". This opens IRL Pro via a deep link and fills in the URL automatically. Confirm with "Save" in the app.

Manual method

  1. In IRL Pro, tap the gear in the top right -> Stream URL
  2. Enter the following:
srt://ingest.fizzypeak.stream:9999?streamid=publish:DEIN-KEY&latency=2000
  1. Video Settings -> 1080p, 30fps, 4000 kbps
  2. Audio -> AAC 128 kbps, 48 kHz
  3. Back -> main view

Go live

  • The big red "GO LIVE" button starts the stream
  • 3-2-1 countdown -> you're ingesting to FizzyPeak
  • The stream appears in the FizzyPeak Dashboard in about 2s

Recommended video settings

  • 1080p30 / 4000 kbps — best compromise for LTE/5G
  • 720p30 / 2500 kbps — for weak networks or roaming
  • 1080p60 only if you have stable 5G/WiFi — otherwise risk of buffering

Camera switch

IRL Pro lets you hot-swap between front and rear camera mid-stream. Tap the camera icon in the bottom right. FizzyPeak sees none of this — the SRT stream stays continuous, only the source on the iPhone changes.

IRL Pro vs. Moblin — which to pick?

FeatureIRL ProMoblin
Setup complexityVery easyMedium
SRT supportYesYes
SRTLA bondingNoLimited (via relay)
RTMP sources (external cameras)NoYes
Overlay supportBasicAdvanced (Scenes)
PriceFree + in-appFree (open source)

Recommendation: Start with IRL Pro. Once you want more (multiple sources, in-app overlays, relay bonding), switch to Moblin.

Bitrate monitor in the dashboard

Under Go Live -> IRL Pro, FizzyPeak shows a live bitrate chart and RTT. If your iPhone upstream drops, you see it there in real time. Handy when you're out on the road and want to check whether your uplink is stable.

Troubleshooting

  • "Stream dropped" after a few seconds -> latency too low; change the URL to latency=4000
  • Audio too quiet -> in IRL Pro Settings -> Audio -> set "Gain Boost" to +6 dB
  • Connection drops on screen lock -> iPhone Settings -> IRL Pro -> turn on "Background Audio/Network"
