Connect the Moblin iOS App to FizzyPeak
Use Moblin on iOS as a mobile IRL encoder — QR scan or manual config.
Moblin iOS Setup
Moblin is an open-source iOS app that turns your iPhone into a full-fledged SRT(-LA) encoder. Perfect when you're out and about without Belabox hardware — the iPhone counts as a single uplink, and with extra relay servers it can act as a mini-bond.
Installation
- App Store: download "Moblin — IRL Streaming"
- On first launch: allow camera, microphone and location permissions
Stream configuration — QR code method (fastest way)
- Open the FizzyPeak Dashboard on desktop/tablet
- Account -> Setup Guide -> Ingest URL -> tab "Moblin"
- A QR code is shown — it already contains your stream key
- In Moblin: + -> "Import from QR Code" -> scan the code
- The stream is created and activated automatically
Manual configuration
If you want to enter the URL by hand:
- In Moblin Settings -> Streams -> + (new)
- Name:
FizzyPeak - URL:
srt://ingest.fizzypeak.stream:9999?streamid=publish:DEIN-KEY&latency=2000
- Video: H.264, 1920x1080, 30fps, 4500 kbps
- Audio: AAC, 128 kbps, 48 kHz stereo
- Save -> tap the configured stream above the stream list -> "Select"
Go live
- Tap "Start" in the top right
- The iPhone counts down, then the stream is live
- In the FizzyPeak Dashboard you'll see the ingest under Go Live within a few seconds
Recommended settings
| Scenario | Resolution | Bitrate | FPS |
|---|---|---|---|
| Indoor / strong WiFi | 1080p | 6000 | 30 |
| City / LTE | 720p | 3000 | 30 |
| Travel / weak network | 720p | 1500 | 30 |
| Sports / action | 1080p | 5000 | 60 |
Tips
- Enable Adaptive Bitrate in Moblin settings — it scales down automatically when the network collapses
- Set the audio compressor to "Soft" — prevents clipping in loud surroundings
- Turn on Stabilization in the camera tab — an iPhone gimbal in software
Battery warning: Moblin draws 20-30%/h. A power bank is mandatory for longer streams. Be sure to turn off iOS "Low Power Mode" — it throttles the encoder.
Moblin + external camera
Moblin supports GoPro and RTMP ingest as a source. Under Settings -> Cameras -> + -> RTMP Server you get a local RTMP URL that your GoPro (or any other RTMP source on the same WiFi) can push to.
Troubleshooting
- "SRT connection failed" -> check the stream ID format (
publish:KEY, not justKEY) - No audio -> re-grant the iOS microphone permission in Settings -> Moblin
- Stream cuts out every 30s -> Moblin is in the background, enable "Background Mode" in Moblin settings
- More help: Connection problems
