Connecting Belabox to FizzyPeak
Belabox is the industry-standard SRTLA encoder for IRL streaming. It bundles multiple modems/Wi-Fi connections into one reliable link. FizzyPeak receives Belabox streams natively over SRTLA — no intermediate relay, no extra latency.
Requirements
- Belabox device (Belabox v1/v2/v3 or a compatible SRTLA image)
- At least one upstream modem or Wi-Fi connection
- FizzyPeak stream key (see Copying your stream key)
Step by step
1. Open the Belabox web interface
Connect to the Belabox Wi-Fi. In your browser, open http://belabox.local or the IP (usually 192.168.8.1).
2. Configure the stream target
Under Streaming -> Custom SRTLA, enter the following values:

Under Encoder Settings:
- Resolution: 1920x1080 (1080p) or 1280x720 (720p)
- FPS: 30 or 60
- Bitrate (max): 6000 kbps at 1080p30, 9000 kbps at 1080p60
- Bitrate (min): 800 kbps — Belabox automatically scales down when the network drops
- Keyframe interval: 2 seconds
4. Enable bonding
For each modem/interface in the Belabox "Network" section:
- USB tethering (smartphone) — enable
- Built-in LTE modem — enable
- Wi-Fi as backup — optional, mark as "Fallback only" if needed
SRTLA distributes packets across all active links in parallel and reconstructs the stream on the server side.
5. Start the stream
Press "Start Streaming" in the Belabox UI. In the FizzyPeak dashboard under Go Live -> Live, within 3-5 seconds you should see:
- Status:
Online - Bitrate: current value
- Link/bond stats: packets per link
Troubleshooting
"Connection refused" or "SRT timeout"
- Check the Stream ID — it must contain
publish:followed by the key - Firewall on the upstream router? Port 5000/UDP outbound must be open

Stream runs, but is extremely choppy
- Set latency up to
4000— mobile networks sometimes have big jitter spikes - Reduce the max bitrate (with LTE-only, 3000 kbps is often realistic)
- Bond at least 2 links — a single modem = a single point of failure
"Too many clients" error
You're already connected with another encoder. FizzyPeak allows one ingest per account at a time. Disconnect the other stream or rotate the key.
Tips for IRL
Latency rule of thumb: 2000ms is the sweet spot for city IRL. On the road / on unstable networks, use 4000ms. Indoors with a good fiber tether, even 1000ms is enough.
- A battery pack for the Belabox is a must — it draws 10-15W on the go
- USB tethering instead of a Wi-Fi hotspot — more stable, lower jitter
- Test before you go live — run it once with a private stream (under Account -> Settings -> Stream Privacy) for 15 minutes
