Connect LiveU Solo to FizzyPeak

LiveU Solo bonded encoder with FizzyPeak — TV-studio quality for IRL and event streaming. SRT Caller and RTMP setup, multi-modem bonding, best practices.

Connect LiveU Solo to FizzyPeak

LiveU Solo is a pro-grade bonded encoder in hardware form — multi-modem LTE/5G + WiFi + Ethernet, automatic bonding, rugged casing. If your use case is reporting, live events or demanding IRL sessions and you want a reliable hardware solution instead of software, LiveU is the most professional way to go.

When is LiveU Solo a good fit? - Live events / reporting / sports — rugged hardware, stable on battery/mains - Mobile studio quality — built-in bonding across up to 4 modems at once - Longer streams (8h+) — the encoder box stays cooler than a smartphone - You want dedicated support with an SLA (LiveU offers that, FizzyPeak is your distribution layer)
When is LiveU not the right choice? - Hobby IRL → Belabox or Moblin are cheaper - Gaming/Just Chatting at the PC → OBS is plenty - You don't want a four-figure hardware investment

Requirements

  • LiveU Solo (Pro / Connect / Pro+ all compatible)
  • A LiveU account with an active stream plan
  • An active FizzyPeak account
  • At least 1 streaming destination configured in FizzyPeak

Step 1 — Create a stream destination in FizzyPeak

  1. Dashboard → Multistream+ Destination
  2. Enter Twitch / YouTube / Kick with your stream key
  3. Enable + Save

Step 2 — Custom destination in the LiveU portal

LiveU Solo has no local web interface for custom RTMP/SRT — everything is configured through the LiveU cloud portal:

  1. Log in at https://solo.liveu.tv (admin account of the LiveU device)
  2. Left sidebar → Manage Destinations
  3. Add DestinationCustom RTMP (or ↓ the SRT option below)
  4. Enter the following values:

Option A: Custom RTMP (recommended — works on 99% of networks)

FieldValue
NameFizzyPeak Cloud
URLrtmp://ingest.fizzypeak.stream/live
Stream Name / Keyyour FizzyPeak stream key (fp_…)
Username(empty)
Password(empty)

Option B: SRT Out Caller (lower latency, more robust under packet loss)

FieldValue
NameFizzyPeak SRT
TypeSRT Caller
Addressfizzypeak.stream
Port9999
Stream IDpublish:live/<YOUR_KEY>
Latency2000 ms
EncryptionNone (LiveU already encrypts at the modem level)
  1. Save → the destination appears in the list

Step 3 — Encoder settings in the LiveU portal

Manage Destinations → your FizzyPeak entry → Edit:

SettingRecommended value
Video CodecH.264
Resolution1920×1080 (stationary) or 1280×720 (mobile, less CPU)
Frame Rate30 fps (standard) or 60 fps (action/sports)
Bitrate4000–6000 Kbps (mobile) / 6000–8000 Kbps (WiFi/Ethernet)
Audio CodecAAC
Audio Bitrate128 Kbps
Adaptive BitrateEnable — LiveU throttles automatically on a poor network

Step 4 — Bonding & modem setup

On the physical LiveU Solo device:

  1. Display → Modems → insert all SIMs, add the WiFi networks you want
  2. Active connections are bonded automatically
  3. Recommendation: at least 2 active modems (LTE + WiFi hotspot, or two different carriers)
  4. Check the connection status on the display — all active modems should be green
Tip: For reporting in dead-zone areas, use at least 3 modems with different carriers. In the LiveU portal you can set the priority (Primary / Secondary / Backup) per modem.

Step 5 — Start streaming

  1. On the LiveU device: select the channel/destinationFizzyPeak Cloud
  2. Press the red Go Live button on the device
  3. The status LED turns green and the bitrate climbs on the display
  4. In the FizzyPeak Dashboard → LiveStream Control (Creator+) shows the connection + preview
  5. Go Live in the dashboard → the stream goes out to Twitch/YouTube/Kick
Auto-Live for IRL Pro+: If you're on the IRL Pro+ plan and the BitrateMonitor is active, FizzyPeak goes live automatically as soon as LiveU pushes — you don't need the manual "Go Live" click.

Common problems

"Connection failed" or "Server unreachable"

  • IP/port mistyped → double-check carefully
  • The LiveU modem has no internet → are all modem LEDs green?
  • A firewall in the LiveU portal blocks custom destinations → check the plan tier (some LiveU plans block custom RTMP — Solo Pro+ allows it)

Stream drops regularly every few minutes

  • Adaptive bitrate must be enabled — otherwise LiveU doesn't compensate for modem switches
  • Bitrate too high → 4000 Kbps for mobile instead of 6000+
  • Check the logs in the LiveU portal → the modem drop reason is usually right there

Picture is delayed (5+ seconds behind realtime)

  • LiveU's built-in buffer (for bonding stability) → in the encoder settings set Latency Mode → "Low" instead of "Standard"
  • With SRT: reduce latency from 2000 ms to 1000 ms (trade-off: less recovery)

LiveU Solo shows "Unauthorized" on custom RTMP

  • Some LiveU plans don't allow custom streaming (only Twitch/YouTube via preset)
  • → Upgrade your plan to Solo Pro+ or Solo Connect with a custom destination license

Best practices for pro setups

  • Carry a backup encoder — LiveU plus a Belabox or smartphone as a reserve
  • Pre-stream test at least 30 min before a live event — check that all modems have signal
  • Keep a power bank with USB-PD ready — LiveU draws several watts while bonding
  • Gimbal mount instead of a shoulder strap → steadier picture when moving
  • Audio setup: use an external mic (e.g. Røde Wireless GO) instead of the built-in one — audio quality is 50% of stream quality
