Connect Larix Broadcaster to FizzyPeak

Larix Broadcaster is a lightweight mobile encoder that supports RTMP, SRT and SRTLA — free, ad-free, and it even runs on older iPhones and Android devices. Ideal as a backup encoder or when you don't want to lug around extra hardware.

When is Larix a good fit? - You want a simple mobile streaming solution without much fuss - Your device is too old for Moblin (iOS 16+) or IRL Pro (Pro features are paid) - You need RTMP from mobile (Larix can do it, many other mobile encoders can't) - You want to switch between RTMP and SRT depending on the network

When is Larix not the right choice? - You need bonded SIM+WiFi → go with Moblin or Belabox - You want a multi-cam setup → Moblin or OBS - You need built-in Twitch chat → Kapchat tutorial

Requirements

• iOS 12+ or Android 6+
• Larix Broadcaster from the App Store or Google Play
• An active FizzyPeak account
• At least 1 streaming destination configured in FizzyPeak (see Set up multistream)

Step 1 — Create a stream destination in FizzyPeak

Without a destination, FizzyPeak won't relay anything:

1. Dashboard → Multistream → + Destination
2. Enter Twitch / YouTube / Kick with your stream key
3. Enable + Save

Step 2 — Set up Larix

1. Open Larix → tap the gear icon ⚙️ in the bottom left
2. Choose Connections → + in the top right
3. Name: FizzyPeak
4. Enter the following values:

Option: RTMP (recommended for most mobile networks)

Option: SRT (lower latency, if your network allows UDP)

Important: Replace <YOUR_KEY> with your FizzyPeak stream key — you'll find it at the top of the Live tab (the "Copy URL" button fills your clipboard).

1. Save → back to the main view

Step 3 — Optimize the output settings

In the main menu → ⚙️ → Video and Audio:

Adaptive Bitrate (important for mobile)

Settings → Adaptive bitrate → enable Logarithmic descend. Larix then adjusts the bitrate automatically to match network quality.

Step 4 — Start streaming

1. Back to the main screen
2. Tap the red record button at the bottom center
3. The status indicator turns green and the bitrate readout climbs
4. In the FizzyPeak Dashboard → Live → Stream Tester shows your live preview after 1–2 s
5. Click Go Live in the dashboard → relay to Twitch/YouTube/Kick

Common problems

"Connection failed" on start

• RTMP: check the URL — especially that /live/<KEY> is at the end
• SRT: probably a UDP block on the network. Switch to RTMP.
• The mobile carrier sometimes blocks custom RTMP servers → test on WiFi; if it works, it's the carrier

Stream starts but drops after a few seconds

• Bitrate too high for the network → in Settings → Video reduce to 2500 Kbps, enable Adaptive Bitrate
• Other apps using bandwidth → close background apps
• WiFi unstable → test on mobile data

Visible frame drops

• CPU load too high → reduce resolution from 1080p to 720p
• Set the codec to Baseline (less CPU than High/Main)
• Older device not suited for 60fps → 30fps is plenty

Stream goes through, but FizzyPeak shows "no signal"

• Wrong stream key: Larix is sending to a different user. Copy your own key in the dashboard and replace it.

Tips for power users

• Create multiple connections (e.g. one RTMP + one SRT) and switch depending on the network — Larix allows multiple connections in the list
• Use the volume buttons as a stream toggle: Settings → System → "Volume buttons control recording"
• Vertical streaming (TikTok style): Settings → Video → Resolution 720×1280 (portrait)
